Questions and Answers

Who\What introduced you to Curling?
Almost everyone in my family has curled at some point. It was only a matter of time before I started to curl.

Do you have any pre-game superstitions or rituals?
Not unless you count being on time or early for games.

What is your career highlight to date?
Winning the bronze medal at Junior Worlds in 2010.

What is your earliest curling memory?
Playing on the sofas at the St. Paul Curling Club while my parents were curling.

What kind of Training Regimen do you follow?
Plenty of time on the curling ice mixed with some cross training and weight lifting. My favorites are rowing and running outside.

What are your curling strengths?
I am not easily flustered and don't let pressure get to me. This must be why I skip.

What kind of goals have you set for yourself?
I have all kinds of goals for myself related to curling, but I guess they are all leading to one big goal: Winning another medal at a world level competition (Olympics would be amazing!).

Do others in your Family curl?
It seems like everyone in my family has curled at some point or another. My mom still curls frequently and we joke that the only place we see each other in the winter is at the curling club. My sister recently just got back into curling when an arena club started near her, and took my brother-in-law with her! My dad still plays in different bonspiels for fun. My grandpa can't play any more, but I have no bigger fan than him!

What do you enjoy most about curling?
I enjoy how much of a team sport it is. You really can't win a curling game on your own, everyone has to pull their own weight for the team to come out ahead.

What have you learned through curling?
How to learn from mistakes and to really work for what you want.

Other Olympic Sport you'd like to try?
I'd love to try skeleton, regardless of the fact that it seems absolutely terrifying. Maybe they could build a kids run for me to try out.

Who is your curling rival?
Everyone. Until we are off the ice, and then no-one. That's kind of how curling works right?

Place you'd like to build a curling club?
In my back yard. At one point I had the desire to buy the empty Sam's Club behind my house and make it into a GIANT curling club.

Where would you like to spend a week's vacation?
If it were more than a week, I would love to travel around Europe, or Asia, or South America. Okay, I just really like to travel. If I only had a week, I think I'd seriously consider going back to Hawaii.

What hobbies do you have?
I've recently picked up quilting. I absolutely love all the quilts that are at my cabin and so decided I wanted to try to make one. Well, then I made one and now I've been trying to make one for all my friends who are having babies. It's nice to receive a hand made gift.

Any interesting travel experiences?
I am trying to get to all 50 states before the end of the year. (Not all states in the year, all states from when I was born until the end of the year). I've only got three states left to visit: North Carolina, Maine, and Oregon.
